Taking the Leap – Encouraging Bold Action Toward Your Next Big Step
I'm using sports metaphors now! Why? Not sure.
Welcome to the Final Day of 12 Days of Clarity & Creativity!
At the end of any project, show, or book, I always feel a little sad because something is ending. Maybe that’s why I’ve been putting off writing this post until the end of the day.
I dislike endings. I haven’t finished The Rings of Power1 on Amazon because I don’t want it to end. Same with The Witcher 3.2 Why on earth do I do that?
But here’s the thing—this isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of the journey.
Today, we’re focusing on taking bold action. After gaining clarity, building creativity, and simplifying systems over the past 11 days, it’s time to step outside your comfort zone and put everything into motion. Bold action isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress.
Why Taking the Leap (or a small step)Matters
Taking action, even imperfectly, is what moves you closer to your goals. It helps you:
Break Free from Analysis Paralysis: Too much planning without action can keep you stuck.
Build Confidence: Every step forward reinforces your ability to handle challenges.
Learn Through Doing: Experience is the best teacher, and action often reveals insights planning can’t.
What is it you often say
?Yea that.
Okay I’m using sport metaphors again and I don’t even like sports!
Remember dodgeball in grade school? I was always the one getting pummeled—anyone else? How about you? 😅
And yet…. I’m still using sports metaphors. Why? Well they work for these types of things because sometimes we need to figure out the next play to try to score a goal or whatever it’s called.
My interpretation of “the process is the shortcut” is that you have to play to be able to make any gains in your business. You likely need to test or try something.
Steps to Take Your Next Big Leap
1. Define Your Leap
What’s one bold action that could bring you closer to your goals?
Launch that course.
Reach out to a potential collaborator.
Pitch your services to a potential client.
Tip: Keep it specific and tied to your larger vision.
2. Break It Down
Big leaps can feel overwhelming, so break them into manageable steps.
Identify what needs to happen first.
Set a loose timeline for each step to maintain momentum.
3. Embrace Discomfort
Taking bold action often means stepping into uncertainty or discomfort.
Remind yourself that growth happens outside your comfort zone.
Reframe fear as a sign you’re doing something meaningful.
I just wrote about this earlier today!
4. Celebrate Your Wins
Acknowledge and celebrate each milestone, no matter how small.
Share your progress with a trusted friend, mentor, or community.
Maybe start with reflecting on how far you’ve come since Day 1 of this series or reflecting on last quarter’s gains.4
Neurodivergent Nuggets of Wisdom
For those of us with neurodivergent brains, bold action might require extra planning or flexibility—and that’s perfectly fine. Here’s what helps me:
Collaboration: Working alongside someone can boost motivation and accountability.
Movement & Breaks: Taking breaks and moving around helps manage energy and avoid burnout.
Self-Compassion: Progress may feel slower at times, but kindness toward yourself makes all the difference.
Closing Thoughts
Taking the leap can feel scary—maybe even downright terrifying, as I shared in my earlier post. But remember: every epic journey, from leveling up in a game to building a thriving business, starts with a single step.
Over the past 12 days, you’ve worked to gain clarity, unlock creativity, and streamline your systems—now it’s time to trust yourself and take bold, purposeful action.
What leap will you take today? I’d love to hear about it—let’s celebrate your next steps together!
Thank you for joining me on this journey through the 12 Days of Clarity & Creativity. Here’s to a thriving and fulfilling 2025!
Stay nerdy,
Dr. Brie-Anna Willey

I have not heard Scott say this (yet) and I love sports - so several nuggets from your post Brie Anna. Thank you. My leap has been starting a Substack and writing something there every day so far. Thank you for your encouragement and micro steps.
I love the phrase "The process is the shortcut" (and try to live and operate according to it), for sure, Brie (and write and speak about it often). Keller's "The ONE Thing" alludes to it, but Nic Peterson articulates it exceptionally well in this episode of Jeff Moore's "Preeminence Unleashed" podcast.
