The Tech, AI & Nerd Spiral
Tiny AI Tells #5 | Mullets, Nerdiverse Guardians, and Alexander’s New Book
Case 5000: The Tech, AI & Nerd Spiral
Filed under: When AI helps too much… or maybe just enough to eat your whole day.
Okay so, I was working on Chapter 6 of Compassion Reset Quest (it’s finally finished!) and OMG I kept getting distracted by the tech spiral and the to do spiral and the fun spiral and the rabbit trail spiral (aka nerd spiral). Classic ADHD move. That’s also why I write Neurospicy & Building Stuff and other projects—because this is how my brain builds.
Back Story: Enter the Nerd Spiral
While working on Chapter 6, I started thinking about overbuilding—and somehow that connected to Stephen King’s horror miniseries Rose Red. Down the rabbit trail I went, discovering its companion piece The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer (and yes, there’s even a book you can buy).1
Naturally, my nerd self was all in. I handed the project over to the “master of ceremonies” in our house (my husband), who organized the whole series for us to watch. We just finished Rose Red and the making-of feature. You’ll find links to all that in Chapter 6 of my Compassion Reset book.2
Anyway, how does this relate to AI? Well let me tell you.
How This Ties Into AI
Here’s where AI comes in. I use my GPT’s (and sometimes the Scott Bot)3 mostly as a decision-fatigue manager, not a ghostwriter. Still… my GPT’s (and my lack of organization with them) sometimes spiral me out.
Exhibit A: The Hijack
Me: “Let me open ChatGPT, I just need a quick email draft.”
AI: “100 percent. Done. Also, would you like me to analyze your life choices and your entire business?”
Me: “Um… sure. And maybe figure out lunch while you’re at it.”
Five conversations later, I can’t remember what I even opened it for.
Exhibit B: The Spiral Stages
Efficiency → “Just one shortcut…” (but I’m still training it, and half the time it messes up, so I end up rewriting everything anyway).
Curiosity → “What else can it do?”
Existential dread → “Wait—who’s really in charge here, me or it?”
Bargaining → “If you just help me finish CRQ 6, I swear I’ll go outside.”
🌀 The Serious Bit
I joke about it, but tech and AI spirals are real. For those of us who are neurodivergent, they can amplify decision fatigue, burnout, and that “crossed wires” feeling.
The only way I’ve found to keep AI useful—without letting it run me—is mindfulness. Choosing when to use it, setting boundaries, and noticing when the spiral starts. This is something I’ll expand on in my upcoming chapter for
.Meanwhile… In Discord
One of the reasons Discord is so fun is the people. For example,
is a prolific and eloquent writer and I aspire to write like him. And he’s quite comedic in a deadpan, dry humor sort of way. He is part of why Discord is so fun.So he has this super secret channel that I think he named sector 7-g and I added a role of 🤖Forbidden Nerd (bc it’s super secret).
Anyway, so we were chatting in there and somehow this clip gets into the conversation (well I added it because I love supernatural).
Context I said the word mulling over and then said “not to be confused with mullet.”
Anyway, fast forward we start talking about “mullet marketing” and I decided to create this meme.
And now that is an emoji in Discord. So… there’s the story. Join us for more random fun about business building.
The Nerdiverse Guardians
Of course, not all visitors to the Nerdiverse are friendly. We’ve had a few scammers (and scambots) try to slip in. The signs are easy to spot:
They don’t engage or join conversations—they just pitch.
They bring up crypto. (Hard pass.)
They tag everyone immediately.
They DM random sales pitches.
Those accounts were banned and reported right away. They broke the rules.
In response, we created a meme that captures what we’re about: people-first, not pitch-first. Community over spam. (Other bots, like Carl-bot, & Tatsu and a speech bot Voice Scriber are welcome since they help us manage things.)
Sound like your vibe? Join us.
Speaking of Discord…
Did you know there’s also a super secret AI area of our server? It’s for creators who are curious about AI but don’t necessarily want to announce it publicly. It’s called Robot Blues.
If that’s you, DM me and I’ll get you access. No pressure to comment or participate if you’re shy—it’s just a safe corner for exploring without judgment.

Speaking of AI
I also wrote a short story about AI taking over the world in Beyond Stories 2,4 a collaboration organized by
, organized that collaboration.I still need to read all the other stories (nerd spiral strikes again), but my plan is to share reviews—either in writing or maybe as short videos—depending on time.
Alexander’s New Book
Speaking of Alexander—did you know he has a new book out? I read it on the way home from North Carolina and could not put it down.
A dog, a Man and the End of the World is part survival horror, part meditation on what makes life worth living. Think mutated beasts, eerie landscapes, and the bond between a man and his dog as they head toward the ocean.
⭐️ TLDR: Amazing. If you liked Fallout, I Am Legend, or the dreamlike vibes of Twin Peaks, this belongs on your shelf.
I even made a little meme with my AI to celebrate.
If you’d like to read my other reviews of his books, check out the post list page.
Welp
That’s all she wrote… for now. Stay tuned for more AI spirals, updates on Chapter 7 of Compassion Reset Quest, and my upcoming contribution to

I love how they say that the author is Ellen Rimbauer, who is a character in Rose Red Here’s my Amazon affiliate link if interested.
Scott bot when used correctly is really awesome and helpful. I tend to write ongoing tirades with it which is my fault. Read more about the amazingness of Scott Bot here: https://www.attainablevision.courses/bries-favs/scottbot
You can read a bit about that in Tiny AI tells 4.
